Ed Schutter, President & CEO
Ed Schutter has over 25 years of pharmaceutical industry experience and served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Sciele (Shionogi) Pharmaceuticals prior to joining Arbor. Prior to his Sciele experience, Ed served as VP of Global Business development at Solvay Pharmaceuticals based in Basel, Switzerland. He also held several senior management roles in commercial operations at the U.S. subsidiary of Solvay during his twenty years with the organization. Prior to joining the industry, Ed owned and operated an independent retail pharmacy in Roswell, GA. He began his pharmaceutical career with Reid-Provident Labs, a small entrepreneurial pharmaceutical company based in Atlanta, Ga. Ed has a BS in Pharmacy from Mercer University and an MBA from Kennesaw State University.
Josh Disbrow, Vice President Commercial Operations
Mr. Disbrow has spent over 15 years in the pharmaceutical, diagnostic, and medical device industries and has held positions of increasing responsibility in sales, marketing, sales management, commercial operations, and strategy. Most recently he held a sales management position with Cyberonics, Inc., a medical device company focused on neuromodulation therapies. Prior to joining Cyberonics, Josh served as director of marketing at LipoScience, Inc., a specialty cardiovascular diagnostics company, and oversaw commercialization of the company’s lead product. Prior to that, he held positions of increasing responsibility within sales and marketing at GlaxoSmithKline and Amgen. Josh received an MBA from the Babcock School of Management at Wake Forest University.
Laurence Downey, MD, Vice President Medical & Scientific Affairs
Dr. Downey is a 30-year veteran of the industry and previously had a long and successful career at Solvay Pharmaceuticals (now part of Abbott Laboratories), including the leadership positions of President and CEO of the U.S. and Canadian operations. Prior to that, Dr. Downey held positions in Medical Affairs, Commercial Operations and Research and Development at Solvay. Most recently, he was CEO of Ketal Biomedical, Inc.. Dr. Downey is a native of the UK and obtained his medical degree from the University of Manchester. He worked as a family practitioner before joining the pharmaceutical industry and moving to the United States in 1986. He is a Fellow of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Physicians of the UK and a graduate of the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. He was recently chair of the Georgia Bioscience Commercialization Center and also co-chairs the Metro Atlanta Chamber's Vaccine Subcommittee.
