Arbor Pharmaceuticals Announces the Launch of ZINOTIC® ES – A New Extra Strength Product for the Treatment of Acute Otitis Externa

Raleigh, NC – Arbor Pharmaceuticals (“Arbor”), a specialty pharmaceutical company focused exclusively on pediatric medicine, announced today that the company has launched ZINOTIC ES as a new treatment option for Acute Otitis Externa (AOE). ZINOTIC ES is an extra strength formulation of original ZINOTIC intended to provide children suffering from AOE with a greater degree of pain relief and skin protection. ZINOTIC ES is Arbor Pharmaceuticals’ fourth product launch in the U.S. and is now available by prescription from retail pharmacies across the U.S.

AOE or “swimmer’s ear” is a common childhood infection of the ear canal characterized by intense pain and inflamed, damaged skin. Children are most susceptible to AOE, and swimming is the most common predisposing factor for acquiring the infection. When treating AOE there are three main goals to address including treating the infection, relieving the pain and restoring the integrity of the lining of the ear canal. ZINOTIC is the only family of products that addresses the three AOE treatment goals. ZINOTIC ES contains the maximum dose of pramoxine and a higher level of zinc acetate to enable greater pain relief and skin protection while treating the infection without an antibiotic.

“ZINOTIC has become an important AOE treatment option since its introduction, and new ZINOTIC ES will be a welcome addition to the ZINOTIC franchise as it further addresses the three AOE treatment goals with its enhanced, extra strength formulation,” according to Jarrett Disbrow, President and CEO of Arbor Pharmaceuticals. “The launch of ZINOTIC ES demonstrates the company’s ongoing dedication to enhancing pediatric medicine. Arbor will continue to build its portfolio of pediatric pharmaceuticals focused on providing novel prescription products for the most common pediatric illnesses.”

ZINOTIC ES is being promoted to U.S. pediatricians by Arbor Pharmaceuticals’ sales force and via partner companies in select regions of the U.S. For more information about ZINOTIC ES, visit www.zinotic.com. The most common side effects of pramoxine (contained in ZINOTIC ES) include redness, irritation, swelling, burning, stinging, pain or dryness at the affected area.

Arbor Pharmaceuticals Announces the Launch of XYLAREX™ - A New Nonantibiotic Product for the Dietary Management of Recurrent Ear Infections in Children

Raleigh, NC – Arbor Pharmaceuticals, a specialty pharmaceutical company focused exclusively on pediatric medicine, announced today that the company has launched XYLAREX - a first-in-class nonantibiotic for the dietary management of recurrent acute otitis media (middle ear infections). XYLAREX is a novel oral solution intended to be administered daily to reduce the number of ear infections children experience. The primary ingredient in XYLAREX has also been shown to reduce the amount of antibiotics prescribed to children affected by middle ear infections. XYLAREX can be administered to children as young as six months of age.

Acute Otitis Media (AOM) is the most common bacterial illness of childhood and the primary reason antibiotics are prescribed for children in the U.S. Recurrent AOM affects millions of U.S. children each year, and children suffering from repeated, painful ear infections are frequently exposed to numerous courses of antibiotics at a young age. With repeated antibiotic exposure there is an increased risk of developing bacterial resistance, which the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) call one of the world’s most pressing health concerns.

“Until now there have been limited options for managing children with recurrent acute otitis media. Pediatricians and otolaryngologists alike see many children with recurrent ear infections who have to been subjected to countless antibiotic courses and – in severe cases – may require ear tube placement to alleviate symptoms. Parents and clinicians are looking for new options for these children. A novel, non-drug product like XYLAREX is an important new option for managing children with recurrent AOM in order to reduce their infections and decrease their need for antibiotics,” says Mark Mehle, M.D., a practicing ear, nose, and throat physician in Cleveland, Ohio.

According to Jarrett Disbrow, President and CEO of Arbor Pharmaceuticals, “XYLAREX is a very important product as it represents a first-in-class non-drug therapy with the potential to positively impact the lives of millions of children suffering from recurrent ear infections. Arbor is firmly dedicated to health of children, and XYLAREX will be a significant addition for the management of common ear infections.”

XYLAREX is available by prescription and can be obtained from retail pharmacies across the U.S. XYLAREX is being introduced to U.S. pediatricians by Arbor Pharmaceuticals’ specialty sales force. XYLAREX is Arbor Pharmaceuticals’ third product introduction since the company initiated commercial operations less than two years ago.

Arbor Pharmaceuticals Launches ZINOTIC™ – A Novel Treatment Developed to Relieve the Pain of Outer Ear Infections While Eliminating Infection and Protecting the Skin

Raleigh, NC – Arbor Pharmaceuticals announced today that the company’s first product, ZINOTIC™, has recently been launched in the US and is now available to healthcare practitioners to prescribe for their patients suffering from common outer ear infections. ZINOTIC™ is a novel ear solution that combines chloroxylenol, pramoxine and zinc acetate and is indicated for the treatment of acute otitis externa, or AOE, which is also referred to as swimmer’s ear. ZINOTIC™ combines three unique medications in a patented ear solution. Each component of ZINOTIC™ is important to help decrease symptoms and advance the healing process. Because children are most often affected by outer ear infections having all three medicines in a single topical solution delivers a high level of convenience to the parents and patients.

According to Dr. Jeffrey DeWester, a practicing physician and Arbor’s Medical Director, “Ear infections are a very common problem and one of the biggest reasons that a child visits a doctor. Parents bring their child to the doctor because their infected ear is in great pain; touching the ear can bring the child to tears. ZINOTIC™ was developed to help rapidly relieve pain while simultaneously eradicating infection and helping to heal the damaged skin inside the ear. Together, these unique properties offer a real advantage for patients and parents.” Dr. DeWester further commented, “The recently published AOE clinical practice guideline supports the position of a product like ZINOTIC™ in therapy particularly with the incorporation of an effective pain reliever and a non-antibiotic agent that addresses the underlying infection.”

“The launch of ZINOTIC™ represents a very important milestone for Arbor as it demonstrates the company’s commitment to provide novel therapeutic options for pediatricians and their patients. More importantly, we believe that ZINOTIC™ will be an important treatment option for children suffering from AOE as ZINOTIC™ is the only treatment that effectively addresses the three goals of AOE therapy - pathogen eradication, pain relief and protecting the ear canal skin” states Jarrett
Disbrow, President & Chief Executive Officer of Arbor Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Arbor Pharmaceuticals has partnered with an established specialty pharmaceutical company to distribute and promote ZINOTIC™ to key pediatricians and otolaryngologists (ENTs) across the U.S. ZINOTIC™ is available by prescription only through retail pharmacies across the U.S. For more information about ZINOTIC™, please visit www.zinotic.com.

The most common side effects of pramoxine (contained in ZINOTIC™) include redness, irritation, swelling, burning, stinging, pain or dryness at the affected area. Treatment with ZINOTIC™ should not be continued for longer than ten days and the source of infection and/or inflammation or sensitization evaluated to determine whether therapy should be changed.
